Whilst fretting over why 3dsMAX hadn't saved the access door seen on my previous WIP render, I realised that there weren't enough Mini-Guns for my liking. There are NEVER enough Mini-Guns.
The door will now, sensibly, be moved to the rear. Health & Safety, kids. They'd have my arse.
Added some mechanisms inside the main turret - it's hard to explain how it works without an animation, but that phallic-looking support beam kinda pivots up with the turret elevation, and a nice big cog rotates too, just for good measure.
Of course, the Mini-Guns (there's one on the other side... remember what I said earlier...) also rotate a full 180 degrees. There are no visible ammo feeds to them though - enteprising bad-guys could just sneak right up and tear them off. We wouldn't want that. Instead, the bullets get into the guns by the power of your imagination. Wooooooo.....
Not so sure about the new grille on the front. It's a bit bobbins.
Holy cow! That thing can rain fire now! Those polygon edges on the side look like it's even rigged for stealth )
That grille is way too tiny for a machine of it's size and mass. It's also kinda hidden behind those bumper blocks... it should stick out so it'd actually absorb some of the collision force.
Yeah, I've got a couple of ideas for it - maybe getting rid of the grille entirely. I'm gonna work on the front end more during the next week - I'm happy with the weapons now.

All these warp factors, photon pistols, talking friendly robots and curvy space ships just seem a bit daft to me.
I think "mechanisms" is the word you're looking for
Thanks again!
